Coparmex Tijuana and Tijuana Sin Hambre Foundation: A Business Alliance to Eradicate Food Insecurity

In a decisive step toward shared social responsibility, Coparmex Tijuana and the Tijuana Sin Hambre Foundation (Tijuana Without Hunger) have formalized a strategic collaboration agreement. This partnership emerges as a direct response to the food crisis that intensified in the border region following the pandemic, merging the strength of the business sector with the humanitarian operations of civil society.

The Role of the Business Sector in Social Mobility

Roberto Vega Solís, President of Coparmex Tijuana, expressed his enthusiasm following the signing of the document, emphasizing that the participation of the business community will not be limited to promotion, but will involve active participation in volunteering.

"For Coparmex, business success is inseparable from social well-being. Within our social mobility structure, supporting these causes is a top priority," stated Vega Solís.

The business leader explained that the organization’s members will integrate disinterestedly into the support chains, contributing time and talent to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most. This alliance seeks to transform the perception of corporate philanthropy into a model of permanent civic commitment.

Tijuana Sin Hambre: A Bulwark Against Extreme Poverty

For her part, Maru Rique, co-founder of the Tijuana Sin Hambre Foundation, highlighted the impact that corporate volunteering will have on the daily operations of the organization. The foundation, which was born in the critical context of post-pandemic difficulties, has achieved extraordinary milestones in less than three years:

  • Mass Production: Daily preparation of more than 3,000 meals.
  • Strategic Distribution: Free delivery of food in shelters and directly to people experiencing homelessness.
  • Binational Logistics: A consolidated network of 2,500 volunteers operating from both sides of the border (Tijuana and San Diego).

Rique emphasized that the signing of this agreement represents an additional engine to continue scaling their mission: combating hunger in one of the most dynamic, yet most unequal, cities in the country.

A Vision of an Inclusive and Prosperous City

The impact of this union transcends food delivery; it is a model of binational unity. Collaboration with volunteers from both sides of the border reinforces Tijuana's identity as a solidary community that does not falter in the face of economic difficulties.

The President of Coparmex concluded by reminding that the economic development of the region must be inclusive. "Tijuana needs us all. By working in unity, we will achieve a city and a Mexico that is inclusive, without poverty, fairer, and more prosperous," he affirmed.
